Five reasons for water ingress in excavator oil

If the excavator oil is flooded, it will cause the engine crankshaft, connecting rod and other important parts to deform, causing the engine to shake, and in severe cases, it will cause the parts to break and cause the engine to be scrapped. So what causes water to enter the engine?

1. Engine water plug leakage

Due to the corrosion of scale, the water plug rusts through, and the cooling water will enter the oil channel from the water channel to the oil pan. This reason is very common, so check the water plug frequently.

2. Damage to the oil radiator

The radiator pipeline is damaged, and the water outside the radiator will penetrate into the oil radiator, causing the oil to enter the water.

3. Cracks in the cylinder liner

When the cooling water contacts the working cylinder liner, it is easy to crack. Once cracks occur, the cooling water will directly enter the cylinder and enter the oil pan through the cylinder wall, which will make the oil white, and the whitening of the oil will cause problems such as poor engine combustion and white smoke. Under normal circumstances, the cylinder liner is not easy to crack, but in some cases, such as in winter, the cooling water is not filled with antifreeze and causes freezing, which may cause the cylinder liner to crack.

4. Damage to the cylinder liner seal ring

Damage to the cylinder liner seal ring is a common cause of water ingress into the engine oil, so when troubleshooting the cause of the fault, be sure to check whether the cylinder liner seal ring is intact.

5. Damage to the cylinder gasket

If the cylinder gasket is damaged and the water circulation speed is fast, the water in the waterway will flow into the engine oil channel, causing water in the engine oil. Damage to the cylinder gasket is also one of the common causes of water ingress into the engine oil. After each disassembly of the machine, try to use a new cylinder gasket to avoid leakage of the cylinder gasket, which will cause oil leakage and cause engine damage.
